The Lewes Guitar Makers

The first prominent guitar making workshop in Lewes was that of Spanish Guitar maker, Stephen Hill who set up in the early nineties. Since then other makers have established themselves and there are now four full-time workshops in the town (Stephen is now making in the south of Spain). They offer a range of high quality instruments from steel-string and Spanish guitars to mandolins, baroque guitars to viols. The Lewes and Brighton area is also host to part-time and hobbyist makers some of which have learned from the making courses offered in the town.
